Reviews about Re-Bath

  • June 20, 2019, by William Dunbar
We wanted to replace my elderly MIL's tub with a low threshold shower with seat because of severe arthritis which was preventing her from getting over the tub threshold and made standing for more than a minute painful. Mark Dufour, Re-bath's salesman, was experienced with aging-in-place modifications. He suggested some accessibility and safety modifications that had not occurred to us: removing the door to the tub/toilet area, widening that opening to a cased doorway, and replacing the bifold doors between between the sink/dressing room and the bedroom with french doors that opened out into the bedroom. With his suggestions, Mom would still have privacy, but if she fell, her body wouldn't prevent anyone from opening a door to get to her. We called several local bath refitters, but only two national franchises returned our call within two days. One of the locals called a week later and another two weeks later. We live in another state, so time was critical. Re-bath's quote was comparable to another national chain, but the difference was Re-bath could do all the reframing and rewiring needed in addition to the plumbing and installation. The other contractor was going to have to refer us to a carpenter for the changes to the doorways. Re-bath allocated 3 days to get the job done, and they were able to schedule the work for 6 weeks later when we would be back in town. Bill, the lead installer, got our input throughout the job to be sure all 3 grab bars and shower controls were placed where Mom could reach them. He and his two crew mates made us feel like it was their number one goal to ensure they put everything where it would work for Mom. They even held the bars in place and let Mom try using them to be sure the placement would work. Gilbert, one of Bill's assistants, came up with a couple great ideas for grab bar placement when he observed the usual angled positions weren't helping Mom pull herself up. Once everything was in place, Bill showed Mom how to sit on the fold-down seat, swing her legs in, and use the on/off, temp, and flow controls. They cleaned up after themselves each evening and kept us informed of where they were in the project. All were nice guys and we felt comfortable with them in the house. It was not an inexpensive project, but the people we dealt with were reliable and stuck to schedule. Saul, from the office, even called a couple times during the 6 weeks leading up to the job to let us know everything was on schedule to start when planned.
